Ready or not fall is coming soon. I can not say I am ready, because there is so much to do.
I am glad that we had the first Coffee Break class, and have a wonderful group of women. They are friendly, talkative and it will be great to get to know them better.
We just got back from our Vander Tuin family vacation, and it will be rated as another very enjoyable one. We went to Door County, WI, and stayed near the town of Egg Harbor. We stayed in a wonderful 3 bedroom ranch house right on the water of Green Bay. It was a beautiful setting, for lovely sunsets, watching the water in rain, totally calm and with whitecaps. The first couple of days were mostly sunny and perfect temperatures. We took a ferry to Washington Island and drove around the island, some of the group climbed a tower, we saw a Stav church, and had a chicken and fries lunch.
We also went to a play at the Peninsula Theater and watched "Sherlock Holmes- the Final Adventure." It was a great play. We toured around the island and hit most of the tourist places that had been mentioned to us, like Wilson's Ice Cream in Ephraim. Also went through the Cana Island Lighthouse, and the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in the Peninsula State Park. We went to Bailey's Harbor and Jacksonport on Friday. Saturday we took a tour of the Door County Winery, and then on to Sturgeon Bay, where we drove past the craft show on Jefferson St. but the rain kept us in the car. We just checked some of the bridges out, and then went to the Neighborhood Bar and Grill for lunch. We picked up a Papa Murphy's pizza up for Saturday supper, and then stayed out of the rain the rest of the day. We also played many games while we were there, and it was just a relaxing time as we had a quiet spot all to ourselves.
Sunday was the rainiest day, so we listened to a sermon tape of Uncle Bill Vanden Bos, Dorothy and Marguerite's brother, and then played games, read and watched a baseball game. That evening we went to Shepard on the Bay Lutheran Church and enjoyed a piano concert, by a couple. They each played a grand piano that had been brought in that day for the concert.
Monday morning came all to quickly and we packed up and left for home. We got home in time to mow some of the grass and I did the laundry. We had 4 1/2" of rain while we were gone, so the river is very high again. When I last checked it was over 15 1/2', so is out of its banks.
Today I spent the day with Emma, and as always it is a pleasure to see the world through a two year olds eyes. She has her new big girl bedroom down the basement, and it is so cute. She loves it and told me to sit in the rocking chair while she showed me all the special things in her room.
She knows she will have a baby brother soon, if all goes as planned, but the truth of the matter has not become a reality yet. The birth mother that picked Joel and Brenda to have her baby, will deliver by C-section on Tuesday the 23rd in Farmington Hills. Brenda and Joel will leave on Monday and stay till the baby is released. Emma will be staying with us till Wed. afternoon, then she will go to G'pa and G'ma Hondorp. The baby will go to foster care till the legal work is done, and hopefully that will be no more than 3 weeks. We are all excited and anticipating the new little boy( provided the ultrasound was read right). Pray with us that all goes well.
That is the latest from our little corner of the world and hope I can keep up with the blog better than I have been.
