We had a good 'day of rest' and it was very appreciated. We enjoyed the morning service and then had a town meeting to get information for a home for disabled that could possibly be built on our church property.
Immediately following that we had our family group dinner in the church basement. We enjoyed a Mexican taco bar, and it was delicious. We spent a quiet afternoon reading the paper and napping.
This evening we had a great band that played during the worship service. The main guy is a teacher at the school across the parking lot at Ada Vista. Pastor Bruce had the second sermon on prayer about confession.
Yesterday we spent preparing for the 3 couples from our Ada dinner group. We enjoyed a roast beef dinner, with mashed potatoes, cauliflower with white sauce, broccoli salad, and dessert. Then we played ripple, a version of golf played with Skip Bo cards. We always have a great time.
Friday we had a wonderful visit with friends from Lenexa, KS, and they joined us for lunch. Willis has just retired and now is free to vacation and enjoy life! Willis and Jean (Bultje) came to GR to see their son Mike, and his wife and children. It was fun to catch up on our families and other interests. Willis and I were classmates from 1st through 12th grade.
Friday evening we went to the Pops concert at DeVos hall which featured patriotic music and honored President Gerald Ford. It was well done, and we were thankful to friends for giving us their tickets. The seats were some of the best, so it was a real treat.
Tomorrow I will be packing for the trip to SD. Tuesday morning I plan to leave here about 7:30 and go to Byron Center to pick up Brenda, Joel and Emma and head to Iowa for our first stop at brother Glenn and spend the night with them. We are all looking forward to it.
