Friday's Chores

It was another day of early rising, and I really do best when I get up early. I had a 9 AM pedicure appointment so wanted to get some things finished before I left. I got the kitchen all cleaned up, and a couple of loads of laundry finished, brought all of the bird feeders out to their hangers( if I don't take them in every night there are raccoons that destroy the feeders and eat the bird feed.) They are little devils!

The pedicure was just great, and if I was good at adding pictures I would take a picture of my toes and add it to this blog. I got the nails done in a deep red this time. Looks nice.

Since I was so far down 28th street I decided to check out the Vacuum store, to see what they recommended as the best canister vac, with the most power. It is The Boss by Eureka (or Electrolux) I was not aware that they had joined. I did end up buying a vacuum which was called the Sanitaire, one step up from the Boss. The motor is the same but some of the tools are better, with metal telescoping wand, chair/step attachment etc. Since I consider myself somewhat of a vacuum expert having used about every brand ever made, I am rather picky about the ones I have to use. Some of those I used to clean houses with would hardly qualify as a vacuum. They were a disaster to say the least. I did learn how to fix the obvious problems, but some were to far gone to improve on!!

Went on to Kohl's and found a dressy top and some towels for the master bath. That was a good stop, and did not cost me much, but she did talk me into opening a credit card account. ( I felt guilty as Everett hates to have all the different C.C. bills coming in) How can you resist saving $15 dollars on a $40 purchase??

I filled my car with gas at Sam's for 3.73.9 and then went across the parking lot to Joanne Fabrics to see what they had available for some window treatments that I am going to be working on. I did not see anything that caught my eye, so will have to keep looking. I got in the car having walked through the rain, and then the fun began. I put the key in the ignition, and it would not turn. I could move the steering wheel, but it did not help. I tried to move the shift lever, and that would not budge. Tried the key, tried the key, tried the key, called Everett. He told me to do all the above, still did not work. I got out of the car and tried to rock it. Then I spied a young man walking to his car, and asked if he had ever encountered the problem I was having. He jumped in the car and tried the key, tried to move the steering wheel, tried the key, AND IT WORKED!! Wow I was thrilled, and thanked him profusely. Called Everett and told him I was headed down the road.

I made the next stop at Target, and only found a birthday card. I was beginning to wish I had not made that stop as the car was acting up again. Thankfully it was not quite as serious and I got it working. I headed for home as I was not up to all that excitement.

In the light of my friend who has been helping out her daughter, by having their family of 6 at their condo, and finding out one of the daughters had a severe case of head lice, I can not complain. I could just park my problem in the garage and forget about it. Not so for my friend. They have been spending hours washing bedding and clothes, etc., and also trying various potions to get rid of the little critters. It is amazing how unsettling bugs can be.

Time to sign off and get some sleep.
