I am sorry it has been quite a while since I have posted, but I am back.
It is only a little over a week to Christmas, and it looks like Christmas outside. We got another 4" of snow over the weekend, and Everett had to plow when we got home last night from our trip to IN. We left Saturday morning, on the spur of the moment, as we decided there was not much we could accomplish around the house, and we wanted to check out some bedroom furniture at our favorite Amish builders in Shipshewana. As it turned out we went with a new fella that was recommended by a friend's sister. We did order a bed and 2 nightstands.
We had intended to leave early Sunday morning to go to Elton and Lauri to see the kids in their Sunday school program at the 5 PM service, but as it turned out their services were canceled and we did not get to see them, but they were very happy to share what they were going to say with us anyhow. Grandkids are so wonderful. We had a great time visiting and had a great lunch and then the kids made a batch of fudge and some white chocolate covered Oreo's and some pretzels. You can make about anything a treat if you cover it with white chocolate. I always come away with new ideas!! Thanks E,L,A,S,M & E.
Our time in Shipsee was special too, as we had lunch as DaEssenhaus, did our shopping and then checked in at the Country Inn and Suites, just north of town. We purchased tickets for a dinner/concert at the Blue Gate Restaurant. They have a very nice auditorium on the upper level and this weekend they featured Dino, a Christian pianist. He was just wonderful, and we would recommend him. We purchased some CD's and enjoyed listening to them on the way home last night.
When we got up Sunday morning, there was about 9-12 inches of snow, and the car was a mess!! We did get on the road shortly after 8 and the first 10 miles were a challenge as everything was white and it was hard to tell where the road was, but once we got to highway 13 it was better and then the 80/90 turnpike was much better. We did not hurry, so it went well.
The painters are coming along very nicely and it will not be much longer. They DID get all of the wallpaper off the family room, kitchen and hall to the basement, which I had not even planned on, but the outcome is a very nice clean smooth finish. They did have to do a lot of repair as the drywall was messed up, but I know we will be happy with the results. I am now able to spend my days in the upstairs store room if I decide to stay home. Most of the time I just leave; right Brenda. She sees me more than usual!!
I am doing the laundry this morning, also fed the birds, and taking care of some other details at my makeshift desk up in the attic. Brenda thinks that is where I belong; you know a funny old lady put away in the attic.:-
