This and That

Today was quiet enough for me just staying home and working around the house. Then late afternoon I got a call from my good friends husband that she had been taken to the ER with severe dizziness. She has been admitted to the hospital, and we will find out tomorrow, hopefully what all of the tests have revealed. We are praying for a rapid recovery. She has had more than her share of pain and suffering the last few months when she broke her shoulder, sprained an ankle, broke a toe and then later found out that the same fall had torn things in her right knee. Just recently the sump pump failed and there was water in the basement under all the boxes in storage. Now the house is torn apart trying to clean that up, and also painting in the family room. Life can be difficult.

Last evening we were at a dinner at the Crowne Plaza, to raise funds for the Dios Protection Shelter in Ensanada, Mexico. It houses 42 street children, who are shown the love of Christ, have a safe place to stay, go to school, are fed, clothed and given hope for the future. It was a very nice evening, as we sat at a table with my cousin Wayne and his wife Jane. We do not get to talk all that often, so it was a special treat. Dr. Roger Greenway was the speaker and he was a very good choice for the occasion.

Sunday we had a restful and enjoyable day at worship, and also brunch at Brenda and Joel's house with Brett, Roxanne and kids there too. The food was delicious as always, and it is always fun to be with family. Emma is so happy to play with her older cousins.

Saturday we had a busy day. We went to Aidan's soccer game at the SE YMCA. It was a cool morning, but the sun was bright. Aidan did a good job even though their team did not win. Our friends the Veldman's were there too, because their grandson Andrew plays on Aidan's team also. Saturday evening our birthday group friends were here for dinner. I prepared the Swedish meatballs and the other gals took the potatoes, vegetables, salad and dessert. It was a delicious dinner and the fellowship was just great. What a blessing to have good friends.

Friday evening we were to our local favorite restaurant for their Friday fish dinner when I got a call from the Corsica Nursing Home that Mom had fallen out of her chair again, on the cement patio, and had an egg on her forehead and other abrasions. This was the 5th call I have gotten, and something must be done. We will be leaving this Friday for SD, so hope we can make some changes while we are there.

Bed is beckoning and tomorrow morning I will be off to Coffee Break early.
